I felt like all of those were much more satisfactory than the actual ending. Looking at the other little reveals throughout the book: the ones found out through the revenge blog, Spencer having slept with both Jessica and Maddy, what happened with Kay, Todd, and Megan. I think the big reveal was lack luster, and could have been done way better. The reason I gave this book 4 stars rather than 5 was because I felt really let down by the ending. She was my favorite of the group and I’m still upset she was killed. I know she was by no means innocent, and she did bad things, but I don’t care. And Kay’s reaction to finding out was the saddest part of the book for me. They both would have been devastating out comes.

I don’t know what would have been worse, if she had committed suicide or the fact that she was murdered. I felt so protective of her and that fact that she was killed broke my heart. This was really the only scene that truly made me almost cry. I attempted to put my thoughts in cohesive order but can we just talk about Maddy dying? My heart broke. I feel like People Like Us did a good job at both revealing bits of information at a time and allowing the reader to put things together themselves, as well as, using the characters to reveal what really happened. I like being in the dark, finding out the truth throughout the book in bits and pieces. Even Kay, which I really tend to like in novels. I felt like it really made for an interesting read, and it kept me on my toes at all times.

I really enjoyed the fact that we couldn’t trust anyone in this story.

Later on I ended up really hating Brie, but I still like the fact that we didn’t have that overused, cliche trope in this book. I initially really liked the fact that with Brie and Kay we didn’t have a lesbian character who was hopelessly in love with her straight friend who would never love her back. So I’m really not surprised that I loved this book as much as I did.įirst off, I loved the LGBT representation in this book, so many lesbian or bisexual characters who were of varying different personalities. People Like Us definitely checked a lot of my boxes. This book was so enjoyable, I loved every minute of it.
